PriThe Integrative Equine was established in 2016 in response to a growing demand for equine veterinary care in Oakland, Macomb, and Lapeer counties. Dr. Jill L. Dutkowski, DVM, CVSMT is owner-operator and a veterinary alumna from Michigan State University. Upon graduation, Dr. Jill was employed by the renowned "leg man" and equine lameness guru Dr. Irving at Oakdale Large Animal Clinic. During her time there, she practiced all aspects of general equine medicine with a caseload rooted strongly in lameness exams and therapeutics. With a desire to provide therapy beyond conventional joint injections and bute, Dr. Jill signed up for and completed a 6 month acupuncture course at The Chi Institute in Florida in June 2016. This is when she realized that integrative medicine was her calling. Then in August 2016, she began a veterinary spinal manipulation (chiropractic) course at The Healing Oasis in Wisconsin. She successfully completed the course in December 2016 and officially received her CVSMT.
Dr. Jill's other areas of interest include lameness exams, diagnostic blocking, joint injections, ophthalmology (eyes), PPID/Cushing's, and preventive care. She resides in Leonard, MI with her barrel horses Annie and Benz, her dogs Oliver and Stella, and her rabbit Dilbert. Her riding interest is primarily barrel racing, but she also enjoys trail riding, team sorting/penning, and cutting (once!). Prior to starting vet school, she spent several years driving percheron draft horses in Frankenmuth, MI.
